The hallmark of this breed is spots and splashes of white color on the bay, roan, chestnut, or red background. The spotted animals are very ancient, whcch paintings in caves with their images trace back to about 20,000 years ago. The Spanish conquistadors introduced the breed to America in the 15th century.
